Contemporary timber aluminium style glazing
Timber aluclad windows combine an engineered timber frame with an external aluminium skin. The result is a premium window that feels warm and natural internally while the aluminium protects the weather-facing surface from rain, UV exposure and everyday wear.
They are particularly well suited to design-led homes, exposed sites, coastal locations, low-energy projects and renovations where appearance matters as much as long-term performance.

LEIAB has manufactured in Mariannelund, Sweden since 1982. Its range includes side-hung, tilt/turn, fixed and door solutions, with four window models offering different combinations of frame and sash appearance. Products are made to the required dimensions, allowing the specification to be tailored to the property.
The exterior is aluminium rather than exposed timber, helping protect the most weather-exposed parts of the window and reducing the need for external timber treatment. LEIAB also uses concealed drainage details to help manage water at the external face.
Another practical advantage is serviceability: the system is designed so windows can be serviced and reglazed from inside the building on suitable installations, reducing reliance on lifts, scaffolding or external access. Hardware is securely fixed to the internal timber face, while the inward-opening configuration keeps operation and maintenance accessible from inside.
The LEIAB range gives you four distinct window models, allowing the external character of the frame and sash to be selected to suit the architecture. This is particularly useful when a project needs the performance and durability of aluminium outside but a more traditional or natural appearance internally.
Lumis is a modern triple-glazed flush casement composite window. The core uses engineered laminated timber, while the exterior is protected with powder-coated aluminium cladding. The design combines the natural character of timber inside with a durable, low-maintenance aluminium weathering surface outside.
The supplied Lumis technical information gives a reference-window Uw of 0.76 W/m²K using a 48 mm triple-glazed package with Ug 0.5 W/m²K. Three gaskets between frame and sash support the system’s airtightness, while the specified Siegenia and PN fittings are associated with enhanced security performance to PAS 24 requirements.
The Lumis range is therefore particularly interesting for projects where a clean, contemporary flush appearance needs to sit alongside strong thermal performance and the warmth of a timber interior.
Zyle Fenster’s high-specification Alu-Clad range covers flush casement, tilt and turn and pivot windows, together with Sky Frame lift-and-slide doors and Alu-Clad curtain wall solutions. The manufacturer’s brochure positions the range for bespoke residential and commercial projects, including contemporary new builds, restoration work and architect-led homes.
The EcoTherm Alu-Clad flush casement combines the appearance of a traditional timber flush casement with an aluminium exterior. Side- or top-hung configurations are available with double or triple glazing. The brochure gives triple-glazed Uw values as low as 0.8 W/m²K and lists PAS 24:2016 accreditation. Frame depths are given as 90 or 100 mm depending on configuration, with maximum glazing of 32 or 42 mm.
The tilt and turn range provides dual-action opening for ventilation and inward opening. The brochure gives triple-glazed Uw values as low as 0.8 W/m²K, acoustic performance up to 45 dB depending on configuration, and PAS 24:2016 accreditation. Operable sash heights can reach up to 3 m, subject to the selected design and dimensions.
For projects looking for unusually large opening elements, Zyle’s centre-pivot windows are designed around substantial sash dimensions. The brochure gives a maximum sash width of approximately 2.95 m, sash heights up to 2.2 m and sash weights up to 300 kg, with a reference Uw of 0.8 W/m²K.
The Alu-Clad Sky Frame lift-and-slide system is aimed at large glazed openings. The manufacturer’s brochure specifies door leaves up to 3 m × 3 m and/or 400 kg, with triple glazing, double gasket sealing and a low-profile threshold option. A Uw value of 0.79 W/m²K is stated for the referenced configuration, with final performance dependent on typology, dimensions and glazing.
For projects requiring larger areas of architectural glazing, Zyle’s Alu-Clad curtain wall system combines timber internally with external aluminium and can integrate windows, entrance doors and sliding doors. The brochure gives a U value as low as 0.76 W/m²K and states that the system can meet stringent Passivhaus requirements for the referenced curtain-wall configuration.
Timber alu-clad windows are particularly useful when you want the visual warmth of timber inside without accepting an exposed timber exterior. They can bring a natural interior finish to modern architecture while the aluminium exterior provides a contemporary, durable weather-facing surface.
