SECURITY

Security designed into the window.

High-performance windows should do more than retain heat. The frame, glazing, hardware, locking points and installation all contribute to how well a window resists forced entry.

UK STANDARD

PAS 24

PAS 24 is the UK specification used to assess enhanced security performance for windows and doors intended to resist attack by a casual or opportunistic burglar. The current standard is PAS 24:2022+A1:2024.

It considers the completed product rather than one component in isolation, using mechanical loading and manual attack testing to assess the window or doorset as a system.

For projects where PAS 24 compliance is required, we can help identify suitable tested configurations and make sure the selected frame, glazing and hardware specification is aligned with the project requirements.

EUROPEAN CLASSIFICATION

RC2

RC2 is a European burglary-resistance classification under EN 1627. RC2-rated products are tested as complete assemblies and are intended to resist an opportunistic attacker using simple hand tools for a defined attack period.

RC2 performance typically depends on security hardware, reinforced locking points, suitable glazing and the overall construction of the window or door. It is not simply a stronger handle or lock added afterwards.

Where a project calls for RC2, we can source compatible European systems and review the security requirement alongside thermal, acoustic and architectural performance.

WHY SECURITY SPECIFICATION MATTERS

Frame, glass, hardware and fitting all work together.

Multi-point locking

Multiple locking points distribute resistance around the sash and make localised forcing more difficult.

Security glazing

Laminated or other specified safety/security glass can help resist attack and keep the glazed element intact for longer.

Robust hardware

Hinges, keeps, handles and locking components must match the tested security configuration of the complete system.

Correct installation

Even a strong product relies on appropriate fixing into the building structure and installation in line with the system requirements.

SPECIFY WITH CONFIDENCE

Security without compromising warmth or design.

Our aim is to combine enhanced security with the other qualities that matter in a modern window: low heat loss, good acoustic performance, clean sightlines and a finish that suits the architecture.
